Assessment

Assessment

Psychoeducational assessments are formal measurements of cognition, learning, and executive functioning that help understand an individual’s learning needs including identifying learning disabilities or giftedness. Assessments for the purposes of diagnosing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are also offered. Dr. Keaschuk completes assessment for both children and adults. Although assessment services may be offered through a child’s school, many families choose to pursue these services privately to avoid long waitlists. All psychoeducational assessments contain recommendations that can be used by schools and families to support learning.

Clinical diagnostic assessments are available for adults and children. These are used to help clarify mental health diagnosis and assist with treatment planning. The format of these varies based on the questions being asked and the purpose of assessment. Dr. Keaschuk is experienced in diagnostic interviewing, objective, and subjective clinical measures.

Formal assessment services vary and are based on face-to-face assessment time as well as reviews of questionnaires, scoring and interpretation of measures, report writing, and consultation. The hours required for assessment are billed in accordance with the Psychologist’s Association of Alberta fee schedule which can be found here: https://psychologistsassociation.ab.ca/about-paa/resources/recommended-fee-schedule/ . Psychoeducational assessments range between 8-10 hours, ADHD assessments are typically 3-4 hours, clinical diagnostic assessments range between 3-5 hours.
